Support Our Troops

February 22, 2007
Subject: Sea of Red

Last week, while traveling to Chicago on business, I noticed a Marine sergeant traveling with a folded flag, but did not put two and two together.

After we boarded our flight, I turned to the sergeant, who’d been invited to sit in First Class (across from me), and inquired if he was heading home.

No, he responded.
Heading out I asked?
No. I’m escorting a soldier home.
Going to pick him up?
No. He is with me right now. He was killed in Iraq I’m taking him home to his family.

The realization of what he had been asked to do hit me like a punch to the gut. It was an honor for him. He told me that, although he didn’t know the soldier, he had delivered the news of his passing to the soldier’s family and felt as if he knew them after many conversations in so few days. I turned back to him, extended my hand, and said, Thank you. Thank you for doing what you do so my family and I can do what we do.

Upon landing in Chicago the pilot stopped short of the gate and made the following announcement over the intercom.

“Ladies and gentlemen, I would like to note that we have had the honor of having Sergeant Steeley of the United States Marine Corps join us on this flight. He is escorting a fallen comrade back home to his family. I ask that you please remain in your seats when we open the forward door to allow Sergeant Steeley to deplane and receive his fellow soldier. We will then turn off the seat belt sign.”

Without a sound, all went as requested. I noticed the sergeant saluting the casket as it was brought off the plane, and his action made me realize that
I am proud to be an American.

So here’s a public Thank You to our military Men and Women for what you do so we can live the way we do.
“Red Fridays.”

Very soon, you will see a great many people wearing Red every Friday. The reason is Americans who support our troops used to be called the “silent majority.” We are no longer silent, and are voicing our love for God, country and home in record breaking numbers. We are not organized, boisterous or overbearing.

Many Americans, like you, me and all our friends, simply want to recognize that the vast majority of America supports our troops. Our idea of showing solidarity and support for our troops with dignity and respect starts this Friday—and continues each and every Friday until the troops all come home sending a deafening message that ... every red-blooded American who supports our men and women afar, will wear something red.

By word of mouth, press, TV—let’s make the United States on every Friday a sea of red much like a homecoming football game in the bleachers. If every one of us who loves this country will share this with acquaintances, coworkers, friends, and family, it will not be long before the USA is covered in RED and it will let our troops know the once “silent” majority is on their side more than ever, certainly more than the media lets on.

The first thing a soldier says when asked “What can we do to make things better for you?” “We need your support and your prayers.” Let’s get the word out and lead with class and dignity, by example, and wear something red every Friday.

IF YOU AGREE—THEN SEND THIS ON.

IF YOU COULDN’T CARE LESS—THEN HIT THE DELETE BUTTON.

IT IS YOUR CHOICE.

Duke Rape

The house at 405 Gattis St. was the site of a party Saturday night where a Duke student said she was raped.

The Durham Police Department is continuing to investigate allegations that a female Duke student was sexually assaulted at an off-campus party early Sunday.

According to police reports released Monday, the 18-year-old woman reported forcible rape that took place at 3 a.m. at 405 Gattis St., where a party was hosted by some members of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc.

University officials said Monday that they had met with members of the fraternity after the report was filed by the alleged victim, who Wasiolek confirmed is white.

Why are we not hearing this? Media bias and slanted reporting is out of control. Any rape is as overwhelmingly evil, and one of the worst crimes on humanity. Why is the media not reporting this?

Because it is politically incorrect to point fingers at black men (I will not say African-American, because they are American). We cannot say a black man raped a white woman, that is simply racist! Yet it is widely accepted to mention white men may have raped a black prostitute, disregarding the FACT DNA did not match.

Innocent until proven guilty-I give this young student every benefit of the doubt, he is innocent in my eyes until a court of law proves him guilty; never doubt that. It simply infuriates me that this is not all over the nightly news, or the morning papers.

I urge anyone ( and that’s not many ) who see this to write their local editor and question “Why”? We need news, not a three ring circus. If it is fair to report on one, it is equally fair to mention the other.

Our soldiers

February 12, 2007

I would normally not do this, but in this case I am compelled. This is an email from my Aunt..My cousin is going back to iraq. These men and women keep our nation’s stitches tight.

Dear Friends,

We are putting a call to prayer on Travis’ behalf once again.  First I’ll bring you up to date.

Travis has had some medical issues to deal with stemming from an illness he suffered last year during his visit to Ohio and mistakes made in its treatment by the Wooster hospital.  Travis still has some problems related to that episode.  In the meantime his unit received orders for a fast track deployment.  They a part of the troop surge intended to bring the insurgency in Baghdad under control.

After taking in consideration his physical condition and the role he now has within his unit Travis has decided to forgo any medical exemption and deploy with his unit.  His leadership is aware of his limitations and he is confident he can fulfill the duties they have assigned to him in spite of some lingering medical issues.  This was his decision and we support him.

In Travis’ words, “I have been back to back in combat with some of these guys and I have helped train the new ones.  I really can’t wave good by and say I’ll see soon if you live through it.  I’m ready and I’m going.”

His unit just completed desert training near Fort Irwin, CA, has returned to Fort Benning and Travis was home for the weekend.  His unit departs on March 2nd, which leaves no time for extended leave.  He will have a couple of four-day weekends.  His unit’s assignment is in support of Iraqi troops as they endeavor to secure the streets and neighborhoods of Baghdad.  His personal roles will be as Bradley driver for his Company Commander.  At other times he will serve as gunner for the 1st Sergeant’s Humvee and assist other drivers with the maintenance of their vehicles.

We again ask that you remember Travis in your prayers.  We know that many of you were very faithful to pray for Travis.  It was a great comfort to us that churches, prayer groups, personal friends and people we did not even know were praying for him.  Travis is in God’s hand and we know He will hear and honor your prayers.

We will send regular updates.  Travis will eventually have some kind of email access.  We will send that info to you later.

Valentine’s Day

February 11, 2007

St. Valentine’s Day: a day for couple to express a shared day of love, and remember how beautiful their lives are together, an opportunity to bestow gifts upon one another in a symbolic gesture of love and mutual respect.

The average Neanderthal male will purchase roses, while enjoyed by the average female, wither within a week. There is the tradition of dinner at an overly expensive, romantic-set restaurant, where the couple can enjoy botched reservations, a long wait, and most importantly, the acid reflux that pursue. Then we have the diamonds. You know the type, lazy all year, forgot his significant other’s mother’s aunt’s nephew’s birthday. Boy was he in it deep all year.

These gifts are hunky dory, and women love them-but where is the meaning?

I prefer heartfelt gifts, a written poem; a day at home with some movies and a home cooked meal, prepared by myself, of course. These small things, at least in my experience, tend to mean more than frivolous ‘objects’.

Having said this, I have compiled a list of must-not gifts. Slip up and present your sweetie with one of these, you may be girlfriend shopping, or “doing without” for some time.

5: Cooking utensils. She may, depending on the relationship, slave to ensure you have a hot meal, and giving additional dishes to wash does not fly.

4: Framed copies of credit card bills. If you have an issue with her spending, it is your duty to get a better job. If that is not an option, just get two more jobs, and quit your whining. Women hate criers.

3: Power tools. She knows who they are REALLY for, and remember, they are sharp.

2: Clothing of any sort. Even if the article is the correct size, you will be scorned.

1: A lifetime membership to Jenny Craig. This is self-explanatory.

Valentine’s Day can end with a nice romp, or a nice lump…Choose carefully.

Liberal Song

February 7, 2007

Write the liberal song

Take half my cash in taxes

Free healthcare for all my rashes

Don’t need big brother lookin’

at terrorists or me

I just want my welfare check

Postage free

No need to find a job

The conservatives pay me

I’m singin’ the liberal song

Sit around all day long

Complain about the government

Don’t vote, I barely read

I tend to hate my country

Think patriotism is funny

Why should I sacrifice

When another will

I’m singin’ the liberal song

Sit around all day long

Complain about the government

Don’t vote, I barely read

I want to expand welfare

If it hurts my country I don’t care

Pay for my ticket to Hawaii

Send more food stamps for my family

Porn, Health and Values

January 30, 2007

Free porn- the abstract reality idolized by the socially impotent and window-licking basement dwellers.

Many men are either inept at the required courting skills (if courting still exists in its purest forms) or the have eaten too many Bugles, spilling crumbs in their laps while cackling at The Three Stooges, ignoring the poundage slowly emerging in the gut of laziness.

Qualities (if one can refer to love-handles as such) women seek in men these are overflowing; the belt that is.

Many men let their physical appearances go down the tube, while expecting women to stay slender and beautiful: well, most out of shape men will not attract these young and beautiful women. So they betray the average woman who possesses true love for their man by fantasizing over women who could literally be engulfed in their guts.

These erotic fantasies of actually talking to, much less touching a woman of the said statures are in actualities that will never occur- the pornographic dreams will remain that- dreams.

Many of these sad, loathsome men find these dreams and urges on the Internet, in chatrooms, and pursue the so-called porn bots… “Sexyamy want to feel your love sausage”. The statements by the ‘bots’ can be even more vulgar than said here.

Those who view these sites are pigs. Not only that, they further encourage the bot-runners to frequent these rooms.

If one wants decent chat, stop viewing the bots. Stay in shape, be loyal to the women who love you. After all, decent people have met partners on line.

Don’t click on bots. Take care of yourself physically. A clean room can lead to better chat, and better results.

War-Take The Gloves Off

January 26, 2007

Political correctness ought to enclose its confines- for how shall thou win a war within the confines of what is deemed to be correct? Is any war correct?

Shall our exceedingly trained forces be dealt a losing hand based on political propaganda and detestation?

American SWAT forces raid approximately 110 homes on a daily basis, many involving hard-core drug dealers and suspected murderers. Yet these operations for the most part run smoother than a baby’s wiped butt. So the question lies, why can our military not conduct search and seizure operations without imperfection?

The answer is quite simple; the American government so badly wants to be seen as the ‘hero’ or ‘the good guys’. International and world opinion is so highly regarded within our government that they put these brave men and women in a metaphorical up creek without a paddle situation.

Soldiers are repetitively sent into war zones with restrictions, as a teenager with a spending limit on new clothes.

Analogically, “ don’t do that. That is unacceptable”. This is what our military hears.

Our fighting forces are not spoiled teenagers, and the restriction on their actions needs to be lifted. These folks fight and die for American ideology, one of freedom, and prosperity. They die for colors, red white and blue.

Most importantly, they fight and die for us, the citizens of this great nation, and for those in countries seeking to reach our mountainous peak of freedom.

When we send them shopping, let it be a spree. After all, going back to the store because an item was forgotten not only costs money…Time and patience as well.

Drop the gloves, we don’t need them.

The Inner Depths

January 22, 2007

God I love her. Many paths astray, yet my fortitude collapses at times. I live circumstances unjust, reasons drifting in the overwhelming and condemning winds of life, and reality.

My eyes feast on the flowing auburn hair as she lays in a calming state of rest…a sleep that revitalizes her inner and outer beauty daily. I   froth over the walnut eyes during the waking hours.

Concerting my mistakes and loyalty, I remain doubtful she perceives my true feelings. Those of genuine and caring love, a pedestal upon which she sits, unseen by her, but the focal point of my inept existence.

A Quick Thought, And More To Boot

January 22, 2007

Political discussion amongst the masses has become faster and more simplistic due to Internet chat rooms. The drawback to this form of free communication is quite simple-‘booters’.

‘Booting’ is a common technique used by those who deride free speech, ousting chatters from their Internet forums. Those who engage in this illegal activity often disagree with their cyberspace victims’ political views. Rather than debating and debunking the opposition, they seek to silence them.

While the exact criminal penalties of ‘booting’ are not immediately known, FCC regulations clearly prohibit any interference regarding Internet usage.

From this concerned and solicitous perspective, ‘booting’ is a cowardice act, deficient in rational thought, and void of forbearance concerning thus said condescending rational of thought- being lack of tolerance aimed at fellow chatters and beliefs and outlook of others.

Let it be known, ‘booters’ , the common cause of free speech  will not be diluted  due to the efforts of few. We will speak, maybe not heard. Continue to ‘boot’… one day a prison boot may be placed where the paper wipes.
